Kaleidoscope - Anglerfish Polarized Oil Cell by Hiroshi Wakabayashi

New from Hiroshi Wakabayashi, this is Anglerfish, a handheld polarized oil cell kaleidoscope.  

The body of this handcrafted kaleidoscope is a textured gold colored metal in the unique and fun shape of a fish, enhanced with a decorative gold epoxy and two small black/white fish eyes.

The bright and colorful interior mandala is created with a 2 mirror system and an oil filled turning object chamber containing tiny strips  of transparent film.  To further enhance the interior beauty, Hiroshi used a polarized film inside the object chamber.  This film filters out light rays that would normally pass through and illuminates the transparent pieces inside.  The range of colors is caused by the light rays bending at various angles.   

This scope is approximately  7" long and 3" at its widest point.
