Kaleidoscope - Judaica 'Star of David' by Roy Cohen (2018)
This kaleidoscope was so popular, we almost sold out of our supply within days of receiving our first order! Like his other kaleidoscope styles, Roy employs a large range of techniques in this one, including using a dark brass patina to resemble an antiqued finish popularized by the Victorian, "steam punk" genre.
The very vibrant 2-mirror mandalas (interior images) in this kaleidoscope are created by the two independently turning wheels in the shape of a Star of David. The one facing you when you look through the eyepiece creates the foreground of the mandalas, whereas the other wheel creates the background. The wheels consist of large beads and baubles surrounded by a flurry of micro beads, all a wide array of colors. He's even included a tiny metal Star of David and a hamsa.
The kaleidoscope rests on its custom metal stand, also created in an unusual shape. The kaleidoscope itself measures 7-1/2" long x 3-3/8" in diameter (at the wheel end). The stand is 5-1/8" long x 1-1/2" wide. The set stands 3-1/2" tall.
Signed and dated by the artist "RC 18". As this model is signed 2018 we have listed this kaleidoscope scope in our sale section.
