Kaleidoscope - Klezmer in Glass by Joanne Jacobs
Klezmer is a Hebrew word, a combination of the words "kley" (vessel) and "zemer" (melody) that referred to musical instruments in ancient times. Joanne captures the essence of this musical style in a this beautiful handcrafted kaleidoscope.
This joyful kaleidoscope has an rotating oil cell on the end and an interior isosceles triangle, 3-mirror system, which provides more points to those mandalas than an equilateral triangle mirror system would. The body of the kaleidoscope has one stained glass side in a colored iridescent glass and one side with an image of musical instruments. The oil cell is filled with glass and dichroic glass pieces, beads, trinkets, and jewels in shades of pink, red, blue, green, gold, and white, and then finished with soldered end caps. Really cool!
This kaleidoscope measures 8" long x 1-1/4" wide at the eyepiece end x 4" tall.
