Kaleidoscope - 'Lady Bug' by Sue Rioux Designs
Whether you call them Lady Bugs, Lady Beetles or Lady Birds, these precious little ladies are loved by all and considered a sign of good luck!
This handcrafted stained glass Lady Bug kaleidoscope features a dual mirror system making it two distinct kaleidoscopes in one! The left side is a traditional 2 mirror system offering a single mandala image and the right side is a 3 mirror system offering a full field of kaleidoscopic imagery. The glass oil cell object chamber is filled with beads, wire and baubles in various shades of red and black with a hint of pink and white. Look closely - you'll see a small glass lady bug inside! The object chamber also contain pieces of dichroic film creating an extra burst of excitement.
The top of the body displays the traditional shiny red body and black dots of the Lady Bug. Sue even added additional glass and soldering to create the Lady's sweet face and antenna! The body is decorated with black glass rods on both sides. The flat bottom piece is done in a patterned black stained glass. The entire kaleidoscope is finished with Sue's signature patina that she adds to all her soldering, resulting in a copper effect on the eyepiece end and other adornments.
This kaleidoscope measures 6-1/2" long by 4" wide at the oil cell and stands 1 1/2" high when sitting on its attached brass feet.
