Chikako Ishida's "Octagon"
Highly reflective dichroic papers are used to line inside of the clear acrylic body of this small handheld kaleidoscope.
As you rotate the scope in your hand ~ the tiny pieces and strips of glass in the object chamber tumble and swirl to provide a colorful 7-point mandala against a black background.
#1 - body uses a patterned black dichroic paper with shimmering rainbows, object cell contains mainly shades of pink with purple accents, end pieces are brown wood
#2 - body uses a patterned black dichroic paper with shimmering rainbows, object cell contains blues and greens, end pieces are black wood
#3 - body uses silver dichroic paper that reflects the colors around it, object cell contains mainly blue with green accents, end pieces are brown wood.
The scope measures 5" tall by 1-1/4" in diameter.
