Kaleidoscope - 'Through the Keyhole' in Stained Glass by Sue Rioux Designs
Through the Keyhole is truly a captivating kaleidoscope by the endlessly talented Sue Rioux!
Sue has soldered together a brilliantly colorful dichroic glass piece on the top and ribbed copper colored glass on both of the long sides to make the body of this kaleidoscope. The barrel consists of a variety of smooth and textured glass beads and dichroic glass pieces in blues, aquas, lilac, purples, etc.
Sue's eyepiece on this kaleidoscope style is unexpected.... she uses an antique keyhole. She has decorated the top of this kaleidoscope with two long cobalt blue glass rods and a decorative piece of dichroic glass. The entire kaleidoscope is finished with her signature patina that she adds to all her soldering, resulting in a lovely copper effect on the barrel, eyepiece end, four little feet, and other adornments.
This is a wonderful acquisition for both collectors and lovers of kaleidoscopes alike. It measures 9-1/2" long x 1-1/2" wide x 3-1/2" tall (at the barrel end).
