Vintage Kaleidoscope - Cupcake Cotton Candy by Joanne Jacobs
From the Joie de Vivre collection*
Here is pure confection, springing from Joanne's love of chocolate. A kaleidoscope of iridescent pink stained glass with embellished soldered end pieces, and an oil cell filled with tiny beads and confetti, giving the illusion of decorative icing. Its oil cell mandalas (or interior images) are viewed through the isosceles 3-mirror system, which provides more points to those mandalas than an equilateral triangle mirror system would.
This kaleidoscope measures 7-3/4" long x 1-1/4" wide x 3-1/8" tall at the object cell end. This unique series of kaleidoscopes make them the perfect non-fattening sweets for the kaleidoscope lover.
*From 1984 to 2020, Linda Given succeeded to bring a little more "joie" to the world from her retail store Joie de Vivre in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Joie de Vivre was well known for its delightful, clever, beautiful, original and just plain wacky gift items ~ and for its wonderful collection of handcrafted and artistic kaleidoscopes. Joie de Vivre closed its doors in November 2020 after 36 wonderful years. We are honored to bring Linda's remaining inventory to you here. Please continue to check back in as we work to get all the scopes photographed and posted to this area. These are vintage kaleidoscopes that were on display in the store and do show signs of wear.
